Selected into the first cohort of 6 faculty fellows to work on individual research projects under the fellowship themes of social justice, along with Montgomery College’s role in community engagement, growth, and recovery. 

 

Montgomery College-Smithsonian Faculty Fellowship CY 2021
Was selected into the 2021 cohort of faculty fellows to work on individual projects under the 2021 Fellowship theme “Facing the Complex, Multiple Challenges of the 21st Century”. (see project reports/blog posts)

 

Annual Montgomery College Scholarship of Excellence in Teaching (SET): Program for Transforming Student Success 2018

Was selected into the first cohort of 12 faculty scholars to work on projects that considered different pedagogical methods to engage in the scholarship of teaching excellence, and then to implement an action plan and continue to engage in the scholarship of excellence in teaching.

“Many Voices, One College” Fellowship in the Global Humanities & Communications Spring 2018

Was selected into the first cohort of 6 faculty scholars who explored how global humanities can enhance disciplinary thinking and intercultural competencies can transform instruction. 

Global Humanities Justice Fund Faculty Grant & Fellowship 2017-2018

Grant received to carry out an experiential learning project titled “Building Students’ Global Competencies and Intercultural Communication Skills in an Integrated Academic English Capstone Course.

Lilly-DC Conference Grant 2013, 2012, 2010 

Awarded by the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) for attendance at the Lilly-DC Conferences.

2012-2013 CTE International Teaching Fellowship Mentor, UMCP AY 2012-2013

Mentored two Center of Teaching Excellence (CTE) International Teaching Fellows to help facilitate their development as University of Maryland teaching assistants and as future faculty.

Awarded to deserving graduate students at the College of Education at University of Maryland, College Park.

Awarded by TESOL to assist in the professional development of TESOL members.  

Distinguished Teaching Assistant Recognition Award 2010

Awarded by the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), the Dean for Undergraduate Studies, and the Dean of the Graduate School to outstanding graduate teaching assistants at the University of Maryland, College Park. 

J. Michael O'Malley Action Research Grant 2009

Awarded by WATESOL to help practitioners conduct classroom-based research, improve teaching practices, and to promote self-reflection in teaching.
